Why is everyone so obsessed w/ one style?
I've noticed that most people seem to be so over consumed w/ this one style. That style I'm talking about is "A bunch of set ups that relate to the ending overall concept" Now I get that most people want everything to relate to the final concept. However, most people I see using it (I've done it myself too) end up using sooo much filler and also wording that comes off sloppy. Sure I can understand when all of the multis do go perfectly w/ the final concept and the wording is solid....however that's rarely the case here. I don't get why LB is so obsessed w/ this one style though? For instance one of my favorite styles is the back to back barrage of punches. When I've used that or seen others use it, voters often say things along the lines of "Concepts were all over the place" and end up voting lower than usual. When did this become an issue? People can use whatever style they want. You don't see a judge voting against Bmagic or Concieted because "The set ups didn't all relate to a final concept". My point is that sure go ahead and stick to that 'all set ups relating to the final concept' style if you want, but just because someone doesn't use that same style doesn't mean it's wack.

A barrage of fairly weak punches vs. a solid bar, with relevant setups and strong ending punch.
Do the math.

Who said the punches were fairly weak though? Like I said a barrage of back to back punches....like haymakers.
---------- Post added at 12:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:52 PM ----------
So then @ WarSand what about a barrage of haymakers thrown vs a bar w/ terribly awkward set ups w/ filler and an ending weak concepts? Do the math though

Which is clearly a hypothetical, seeing as I've seen NO ONE on here do that.

If I see someone successfully string together back to back haymakers, I'll take back what I said.

When i short bar expos usually say i win on consistency, if thats what u mean by barrage of punches. Longer bars = more risk

I'm not going to point out any names but I've seen it done a bunchhhh of times. Long stretched set ups w/ filler and a non creative concept. That shit happens all the time. That's not even the point though, the point is you can use either style and people shouldn't be bashing it just because it's not their style.

It's a matter a difficulty in my mind, for exactly the reasons you're talking about.
It's harder to execute a long concept with good wording that stays relevant the entire time. If your wording is shit or the concept is weak that's your own fault. Doesn't really have much to do with the overarching formula.
It's much easier to write small back to back punches because you don't have to stay relevant and think up multiple creative angles and rhymes to match the set.
That's the distinction for me.
You can shoot a perfect free throw over and over and over, but if someone is always hitting threes while you do that, they're gonna win. You don't blame the three point line for being drawn too far out when people miss.

Ur talking about stretching, which is another story. Ur a fan of the hit & miss style, throwing a bunch of alleged haymakers, but landing only 1 or 2. Me personally, I like a complete build up to a punch. None of that "if I CLAP THE RUGE what the BLAST'LL DO is put you "on pens and needles" like a tattoo artist was going BACK TO SCHOOL!"
