Why has Hip Hop been silent about what's going on in Palestine?
We can't say Hip Hop doesn't do politics. Hip Hop has been political since the days of "The Message" and Public Enemy. In more recent times, we heard from a lot of rappers during the BLM protests. I'm talking mainly about mainstream North American Hip Hop. If there are any underground or overseas artists who have made songs (not social media posts) about this, please let me know. But what are your thoughts on it? Should Hip Hop, a genre that has styled itself as the voice of the disenfranchised, say something about what's going on? Does the silence mean Hip Hop has changed?

Rap has changed. It's no longer about being against the injustices of the world. Its a big money game swallowed up by capitalism. so many rappers out themselves as having problematic stances/views etc. Its alot getting them to somehow find "correct" positions domestically, asking for them to figure it out internationally is a much taller task.

Think these days, with social media being at the level it is at added with the entire cookie cutter influx of (most) rappers, its all about getting the bag and flexing on the gram. Getting as many streams up. Its more selfish and capitalistic than it was back in the 80's, 90's etc.. everyone is out for themselves, fuck everyone else attitude.

Dizaster speaks out a lot on it. He's not mainstream but at least (sorta) relevant in the battle scene. i think hes from Lebanon or somewhere around there?
