Your spelling was fairly off, the correct spelling is "Vitor Belfort".

@just C, Rigondeaux is sooooooo boring though lol. Plus if you stick him in am MMA cage he'd look just as untechnical. It's the gloves. More fear of the shot, harder to land.

I think thats probably where we differ

I love watching Rigs fight. I can appreciate a good defensive fighter who picks his spots. Fighters like him keep my eyes glued.

Maybe another example who's more up your alley would be Vasyl Lomachenko

And of course these guys would struggle in the octagon.

But MMA guys would struggle just as much if not worse stepping into the ring, it works both ways.

.............

I'd just rather watch someone focus on doing 1 thing really really well than doing multiple things, ok.

Why does Belfort look so much like Chuck Liddel?

The mohawk probably, but he looks nothing like Liddell. You need to scope those Iceman shorts out Rant!

99% of people hate Rig. I was a huge fan in his early career, KOing Willie Casey and stuff, but he stopped KOing people the higher up he got. Easily one of the best on the planet though.

I don't mean people would win or lose in the other sport. What I mean is that a boxer wouldn't look as TECHNICAL in MMA. It's not a situation of MMA fighters not being able to box. It's the format they are boxing in. The gloves make a huge difference. Having to think of other aspects make a huge difference. I'm sure MMA fighters would look a lot sharper if you put them in boxing. I know they've both exclusively fought nobodies, but Kimbo and Fabio Maldonado are undefeated in boxing yet in MMA they look really sloppy with their punches.

I prefer the brutality of a well landed punch in MMA compared to the slickness of a well landed punch in boxing. The fights are MUCH more competitive in MMA (due to the lack of interdependency for fighters) and the best HAVE to fight the best.

MMA is more versatile and it also incorporates boxing to an extent. But I would rather be a pro boxer than a pro MMA fighter....even in a street fight. MMA is sort of like being a jack of all trades, where you know a little bit of everything, a little wrestling, a little kickboxing, a little grappling, but you're a master of none. Whereas boxing is like you've mastered one thing but that one thing happens to be the foundation of almost every fighting system. In a street fight against a pro boxer, it wouldn't matter how many grappling techniques you know. You'd be knocked spark out before you even get him to the ground.

Continuing my arguments from 2014, that's not true. An MMA fighter isn't a jack of all trades. It can be. But isn't by design. Israel Adesanya wasn't a good kickboxer, he was the number 1 kickboxer at his weight in the world. Garry Tonon wasn't a good grappler. He was the best submission fighter in the world. There are Olympian judokas and wrestlers up and down the sport. People master one thing, and then move into mixed martial arts after it all the time.

And in a one on one street fight, 99 out of 100 a proper BJJ or wrestler would very likely wreck a boxer. However street fights are very rarely a one on one square go, so having a killer punch on you is always going to be beneficial. But in that case you've as much chance being a powerlifter for street fighting as you do being a pro boxer.
