After more than a decade in the business, the legendary icon remains a hip-hop heavyweight, one who can still sell records as if it were the pre-Internet era. So it is quite hard to imagine what the music scene would be like if he wasn't around. Aside from remembering his 8 mile co-star Brittany Murphy in Vibe’s 15th-anniversary "Juice" issue, the rocking Em also opens up about his expected retirement from the rap game. In the August/September issue, Em also confirms he can be his own worst critic, calling some of his previous material "mediocre." But he said that it's the fans who will at last decide his hip-hop fate. His Eminence Eminem returns to the top of the US albums chart this week, as Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs which debuted in pole position last week suffers a 66% dip in sales week-on-week, and drifts to number two as a result. The 52,000 copies it sold put it well behind Eminem, whose Recovery’s recovery provide it with a sixth week at number one, on sales of 133,000. On the Hot 100, Love the Way You Lie spends a fifth week at number one for Eminem feat. The rocking Rihanna is once again holding at bay Taio Cruz’s Dynamite, which fizzles away at number two for the third week in a row.
The two legendary icons Eminem and Rihanna have clung on to the number one spot in the Irish singles chart. Love The Way You Lie returned to the top spot last week and now spends its ninth week in the chart. The top five remains unchanged as Flo Rida and Yolanda Be Cool remain in second and third respectively. The rocking Eminem is the ninth solo male to achieve such a double domination. Of the acts, 50 Cent is the only male to boast the feat with two albums ("Get Rich or Die Tryin' " and "The Massacre"), while only Usher has plated multiple five-week or more Hot 100 leaders from an album that also led the Billboard 200 for at least five weeks ("Yeah!," "Burn" and "My Boo," all from "Confessions").
