In late '06 7pointSix2mm known at the time as Epidemik created Lyrical Killaz. A crew that would go on to stamp it's legacy on the site in a huge way giving rise to some of the best battlers to ever grace Letsbeef.

Top Notch joined LK early in 2007 and was already one of the most respected members of the site. Notch would waste no time at all, throwing down with the likes of Mani, LEFT FIELD and War Tank, as well as defeating high rankings opponents such as Askari, De Swagger, Illimit, EllAhmEnO, HVK, Munny, UNKNOWN ARTIST and Multiple Madness. During this seemingly unstoppable 20 battle winning streak in which Notch toppled some of the greatest battlers of the generation, Notch would propel Lyrical Killaz into new heights, and more importantly new rivalries.


Prominent Members

Some of the biggest characters on the site were billed as members of Lyrical Killaz during 2007, which is what led to some of the most interesting crew feuds the site has ever seen. Some of these names include: Top Notch, Olde English, Askari, Epidemik, Raiko Raw, IAmGraffik, Tha Suspect, Jessy James, Lil Midget, Shellz/Young-Hustla, Rain Matrix and Meta4.


Rivalries

If there’s one thing Lyrical Killaz was known for, it was its epic rivalries. The cypher archives of 2007 on Letsbeef read like a book of memorable LK clashes, but the most notable exchanges were with: Hoodrich All Stars, Made Fresh Daily, SpiTTaGe InC and Monsters Inc. A later incarnation of Lyrical Killaz was brought back to life by Top Notch and Rain Matrix, and had a brief spat with Utility Service Squad.


Achievements

During this time, it was considerably harder to win competitions and accolades due to the refined amount of opportunities which were presented. The crew’s full potential was reached during the first ever Basic Text Tournament when Meta4 would meet Young-Hustla in the finals in an all-LK showdown which proved who was the best crew on the site definitively. One could almost attribute a second straight Grand Championship title to the crew, with Olde English winning the grand prize a few months after leaving LK to create his own crew, Two Smoking Barrels.



Site Impact

Lyrical Killaz impact on the site is almost unrivaled when you look at the chain of events. Top Notch and Askari, who are due for inductions in the coming months, join Meta4 and Olde English in the Hall of Fame. There are multiple Grand Championship wins among everyone from the crew, but perhaps even more interesting is if you look at what those members went on to do. Olde English first created Two Smoking Barrels, which gave an early start to Rain Matrix, TalkSick and EtH amongst others. Askari would create UTILITY SERVICE SQUAD which saw the rise of UNKNOWN ARTIST, Student and several other long term Letsbeef names and Top Notch would become a major player in SMACK/Back Hand Clique which brought battlers such as Rican and NawkOut into the limelight. Really, it seems like all roads trace back to Lyrical Killaz in terms of legacy and longevity on Letsbeef.com.

"LK were easily up there with the best when I joined the site, only really rivaled by Hoodrich All Stars. They made there impact known even in their forum posts in which they all rocked a Lyrical Killaz signature and of course the infamous slogan "It's Killa Season". Perhaps the first crew slogan on the site ever?
