Jay Electronica Album
Waited 11 yrs for him to do a joint project with Jay-Z. I'm underwhelmed tbh, he had a lot of forgettable verses.. Jay was shittin tho. What ya'll think? It's on TIDAL exclusively but ya'll know how to find shit on the internet

Crazily enough I have this habit of getting into someone right before they drop new shit. Ive been bumping his sunshine compilation and the exhibit freestyles. Haven’t listened yet but is the quality that bad? His verses always seemed so mystical. I wish chance stuck to the same style as Jay, those poetic raps with biblical references mixed with modern references. “How Great” with Jay And Chance was (literally) godly and I’m not even religious. Good bars, soul beats, some slick boast... Idk how these rappers release disappointing albums when they already know what their fans respond to the best.
Looking at you too Kanye

I heard it on Spotify (free account). I thought it was dope, but it's not for everyone. Jay Z is on every song except one I think..it's almost a Jay Z album as much as it's a Jay Electro album. A lot of the beats were meh, but I heard they were also produced by Jay Electro so I guess it makes sense. I honestly feel like he's taking Hip Hop to somewhere new with this shit. The album is just...different. The Blinding and Ezekiel's Wheel were my two favorite tracks. I'm honestly on the verge of crowning Jay Electronica as the most poetic lyricist of all time...even more than Nas. His wording on a lot of those tracks was on another level. Even if you're not feeling it musically, you can't front on his crafting of words. That's my take. I'm going to listen to the album a few more times and I have a feeling there will be things I didn't catch and I'm going to like it even more.

Yeah after a few lessons I love this album! Since Currency's Plan Of Attack (Suicideboys were close with staring at shadows) I hadn't found an album that had to be listened to straight through they are rare. This is one of those. It has that vibe of being in a smoked out ass room stuck to a chair oh shitting every line or the knowledge in em.
Jay-Z shouting out Soulja Slim sent a shiver down my spine. RIP Soulja they did my guy dirty outside of his mom's house on Thanksgiving.
I think Jay Elec waiting to release the debut this long an making it a joint album is a bit of a disservice to his whole wave, but as a fan I dig it.
