Mods and voting

This ain't personal and it's nobody in particular. I'm seeing a lot of battles ain't getting closed out....I just voted on 7 cuz I got time today. Some of em nearly a week overdue. Also seeing a lot of bad voting...people talking about punches and concepts but not making sense while they do so. A lotta battlers don't understand what to put in quotes and what not to. If the mods aint voting everyday on all different skill levels, there ain't the proper amount of constructive feedback or examples to allow members to grow as battlers and voters. Everybody likes to vote on battles where both battlers are good but part of getting there is being told you suck in a constructive way and using that feed. It's only usually 8 lines too....2 min out your day. It used to be part of the job.... the site owes it to the members for the staff to help em out in these little ways.

eh, im ready to see some new mods- just putting the same couple dudes in and out of rotation for years is mad weird to me. Another no brainer is to cull inactive mafuckas, and call them out by name so it doesnt keep happening. Seriously no smoke but a name like illo comes to mind, only forum presence of late is a story on ripping shodans cock off and hasnt had a battle on his page since 2016.

Why are dudes who barely make themselves present here and never battle considered moderator potential? Dudes like Bleu are the PERFECT example of a top mod, from forum hosting to battling to general interaction. Not a very demanding title, those are basically the only things expected of yall but Bleu/Aggo are like the only ones I can think of who fit the bill.

Only problem is..... what are we modding? We can legit have 1 single mod take care of what goes on day in and day out. You can’t really blame the mods, what’s said above. Just because you’re a mod don’t make you a good voter.

Buuuut somewhat off topic..Most mods can log on and see 3 people active... Just like any admin, mod, regular member, HOF, FVC, whatever the fuck.... whoever you are, there’s a high percent chance you’re going to log off. Now someone remind me, when’s the last time we had 10+ actual members online..

We’ve (Regular members) been too busy trying to push this site for the better, to the point where we get tired of doing the SAME exact shit everyday KNOWING it’s not going to change. Most of the time, I simply don’t vote because I get bored reading text battles/audio battles by the same 5-10 members. It’s not their fault and I wouldn’t dare blame them. It’s the sites fault.

Remember when we attempted “Record Day”? I think that was Deej’s idea but shit, that failed badly.. Shit like that just lets us know that there’s not much we can do to bring LB unless we got daily active builders/coders/admin faces. I dislike the fact that I’m so inactive but damn... what is there to really do? I’ve been chatting with Fidel Z for years... I need to see new faces round here so I can sit back and watch the lil homies elevate.

I agree with Esso in a way, but I find it odd that people think a mod's primary responsibility should be voting. Also, I'm not sure why a mod has to be an active battler. Voting and battling are what everyone on the site does. Should the most active members just be made mod? I don't think that makes much sense.
Mod material is somebody who is level-headed, intelligent, and fair. It's somebody who knows the site and its culture well and who can help people out with explanations and by making proper decisions when it comes to intervention. It's somebody who doesn't catch feelings. It's somebody trustworthy.
I've been guilty of very rarely voting for a while now, and I haven't battled in over a year. I've been meaning to get better with that. But hey, if you ask around, I'm willing to bet most members find me helpful and fair, and quick to handle requests when I'm online. I think most of the mods fit that description, hell, all of them really. Illo has basically ghosted, I'll give you that lol. I always figured what's the harm in keeping him around since he did so much in the past, but yeah...
Doing things like running tourneys is another thing mods should definitely be doing in my opinion, and I've also failed at that. That's why I'm trying to get something going in Tinychat to maybe spark some activity and bring back an old favorite that people like Noble and Rant used to host.
