Hover your mouse over the battle icon at the top of the page. (there's a row of icons) A drop down menu will appear with 6 options. Click on either "Start Text Battle" or "Start Audio Battle" and then just take it from there.

If you want to send a private battle or battle a specific person, check out the "Text Lounge" or "Audio Lounge" of the forums, you'll find some good battlers in there who will be willing to battle.

Also, you can click on "View Battles" have a look at the sites recent/new battles. If there is a battle sitting in the middle panel (Open Battles) you can reply those as well.

so how do I battle a particular person? Do I just make a thread similar to this in the text forum and issue an open callout? sorry to sound like a noob.

Yeah pretty much. Or when you go to the "Start Battle" you can type someones name in the the "Private Battle" section and then send the battle to that person.

You navigate to the med-top of the screen to the crossed mics & hover your mouse over it, once there, you will see a drop-down menu appear. Once there, simply click "start a text battle" and choose your formatting. These formatting options include a place to battle a direct opponent, as well as an open opponent list where anybody can accept it.
